Giving Timeless Gifts
The thesaurus defines a gift as something given freely with no recompense. I stood in line at a Target store in Kirkwood, Missouri, and watched in awe as a woman spent $800.00 for Christmas gifts. She did this without breaking a sweat. I couldn't help but wonder what it must be like to have the luxury of being able to spend that kind of money for gifts with no sense of stress whatsoever. Included in her cart were toys, clothes, a large piece of furniture, games, videos, and books. How many of those books will be around in twenty years? How many of those toys will still be useful next year? And how many of those videos will be watched? So what are the best gifts and when is the best time to give them? Every item in both of our carts will lose their usefulness.
